For the longest time
I looked for God
In the scriptures
and quiet of the Holy Temple;
And for me He was never there.
Later, I took long walks in the woods
And listened for His Voice
in the rustling of the trees.
All those times, I never heard Him Sing.
Then, as the years passed
I glimpsed God for an instant-
As my wife’s hand
caressed our little baby girl.
Now the house is empty
And my heart is very still;
And God constantly speaks to me.
For I have given up the search:
He is the only one there.
