Traveling Beyond Religions

Interviewer: Krishnamuti stood up before a vast audience and in a memorable announcement dissolved the Order of the Star, rejected its world-wide organization and renounced the role so elaborately prepared for him over twenty years. 'I desire those who seek to understand me' he said, 'to be free; not to follow me, not to make out of me a cage which will become a religion, a sect. Truth is a pathless land, and you cannot approach it by any path whatsoever, by any religion, by any sect. That is my point of view and I adhere to that absolutely and unconditionally."

Krishnamurti: I said no organization it doesn't matter whether it is ten thouand years old or recent,-can . . . lead a man to truth. On the contrary, they're a hindrance, and being a hindrance, a man who is really very serious wants to go into it and enquire, it- it blocks him. It conditions him."*

For the spiritual traveler who is serious about their journey, first they must learn how learn; what is meant by this is to free oneself from the conditioning of others and organizations. 

So in this remarkable statement, Krishnamurti publicly renounces what he has been preparing for 20 years to take over: he renounces all that is found in religious organization. Saying Truth is found another way- that is seeing what is in front of you.
