The outward doth from the inward roll
and the inward dwells
in the innermost soul
Burgoyne, The Light Of Egypt
When I was growing up in Washington Heights, NYC, everything we ate was organic. Vegetables, meats, bread, fish and pastry were all baked, prepared, and sold by local vendors and very few if any preservatives were added. Now, in our more modern world, food trucks into local markets from all over the world and we have the entire industry of frozen foods. While there are many pluses to having this immense variety and convenience, there are many minuses as well. To preserve the foods, all kinds of chemicals are added to frozen TV dinners, frozen hamburgers, and fish are raised on fish farms with high levels of bacteria, and frozen into packages. Many of the chemicals which are added to this food are man made, not existing naturally, and because they are not natural to the environment, often people cannot eliminate them from their body. These chemicals build-up, cannot be dispersed and a toxic situation is created within our own body; just like the larger, world environment. All in the name of progress, convenience, and commercial growth we have created more toxins than the earth and people know what to do with.
Of late, I have not been feeling well and besides local doctors with their MRI's, cat-scans, and ultra-sounds, I have started going to a nutritionist. Recently I learned, it seems that my body is filled with heavy chemicals, parasites and both my adrenal and immune response are out of whack. Part of the treatment to restore this lost balance is to eat fresh food, free of preservatives, follow the medical doctors prescriptions, add various natural enzymes, and cleanse the toxins from my system.
So what has happened to me, in some small way, is sort of like what is happening to the larger earth mother. We have overdone good ideas, in the name of making money and convenience, and destroyed the natural order. I mean who can argue with frozen food or who can argue with gasoline/oil to run a car. But too much of anything without concern for the effect on people or environment is the lingering problem.
So now, here I am with my grey hair; not only have I contributed to the destruction of the earth by not being more vigilant and earth friendly, but I have messed-up my own body. What a wonderful legacy for my children and grand children!
Anyway, later this afternoon, I am going to the new local Giant Supermarket that has an immense assortment of organic foods. And as I try to restore the lost balance in my body, and show business people I no longer care for those frozen TV Dinners. Perhaps, the balance will gradually shift just a little on the planet; perhaps, by reading this posting a few more people will awaken to the realization, a better world starts with them. It really matters what one person does for themselves, their family and their community. After all if we purchase less gasoline and shift our food buying habits; perhaps business will adjust. Also, if you are a stock holder in these companies insist they start offering choices that are people friendly and not toxic to the environment.
And as Burgoyne has so eloquently stated, one person at a time will rise up and live the promise of full spiritual awareness: the outward doth from the inward roll and the inward dwells in the inner most soul.
Remember, we are all children of Light and must take responsibility and action for our life and planet. Only Light, and a personal spiritual awakening leading to unselfish action, can dissipate the greedy, commercial darkness that has gripped our planet. SB
